The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure has launched an Inter-Agency Innovation Competition aimed at stimulating technology-driven solutions within federal Ministries Departments and Agencies while opening new pathways for business growth and MSME participation. The initiative is expected to improve public sector efficiency and create commercial opportunities linked to innovation and service delivery.
According to NASENI the competition aligns with its mandate to support indigenous industrialisation job creation and economic progress. By encouraging MDAs to develop practical solutions to operational challenges the programme is positioned to reduce bottlenecks that often affect businesses including procurement processes infrastructure delivery and access to public services.

Submissions are being invited across sectors such as agriculture health education and infrastructure with an emphasis on scalable innovations that can be deployed beyond government use. NASENI said selected ideas could be adapted for wider market application creating opportunities for local manufacturers technology firms and service providers.
The agency noted that strengthening innovation within government institutions is a critical step toward building a more resilient and business-friendly economy. By fostering collaboration between public institutions innovators and the private sector the competition is expected to support enterprise growth stimulate demand for local solutions and reinforce the role of science and technology in Nigeria’s economic development.
