Since its commissioning in January 2023, the Imota Rice Mill has emerged as a major catalyst for small business growth within Lagos State’s agricultural ecosystem. The facility has strengthened the farm-to-table value chain by creating jobs, supporting local rice farmers, and improving market access for micro and small agribusinesses.
The rice mill has played a key role in stabilising rice prices by boosting local processing capacity and reducing reliance on imports. For SMEs involved in farming, aggregation, logistics, packaging, and distribution, the mill provides a reliable off-take market that supports predictable income and business planning.

Beyond processing, the Imota Rice Mill has stimulated activity across allied sectors including transportation, storage, retail, and food services. These linkages have expanded opportunities for small operators to scale operations, improve efficiency, and participate more competitively in Lagos’ food economy.
The project reflects Lagos State’s broader strategy to strengthen food security through sustainable agriculture while driving inclusive economic development. By anchoring SME participation across the agricultural value chain, the Imota Rice Mill continues to translate public investment into measurable business growth and livelihood impact
