Vice President Kashim Shettima revealed on his X official handle that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has presented a far-reaching reform proposal to the United Nations, urging the global body to restructure or risk losing relevance in a rapidly changing world economy.
Speaking at the 80th UN General Assembly in New York on Wednesday, Shettima, who represented the President, criticised the UN’s slow response to global crises and widening gap between policy and action, describing ongoing conflicts as “stains on our collective humanity.”

Tinubu used the platform to highlight Nigeria’s economic transformation, stressing how his administration’s reforms are creating fertile ground for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to thrive and drive inclusive growth.
He called on UN member states to embrace bold reforms that will empower developing nations, strengthen trade, and support entrepreneurs as key players in global economic stability.
