The International Organisation for Migration (IOM), in partnership with the European Union, has launched a €5.1 million initiative to strengthen peace and socio-economic stability in Katsina and Zamfara states.
The 18-month project Conflict Prevention, Crisis Response and Resilience (CPCRR) was unveiled in Katsina by Governor Dikko Umaru Radda. It will target 11 local government areas across the two states, with direct benefits for displaced persons, returnees, host communities, and local authorities.
IOM Programme Manager for Peace Building, Kutumbakana Jean Nahesi, said the initiative will build social cohesion and empower local governance structures to resolve disputes, while also addressing threats of violent extremism and climate change.
