Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, has launched a N1 billion empowerment scheme aimed at supporting youth-led micro businesses, with a focus on mobile phone repairers, technicians and apprentices across the state.
The programme targets 1,050 youths who will undergo training in mobile phone repairs and maintenance, while about 3,000 apprentices will receive direct cash support to strengthen their businesses. The initiative is designed to enhance productivity, build human capital and support post-conflict economic recovery in Borno State.
Each trainee will receive a complete set of modern repair tools, including hot air rework stations, soldering equipment, battery boosters, digital multimeters and precision screwdriver kits. In addition, all 1,050 trainees will receive cash grants as seed capital to help them start or expand their repair ventures.
