The famed YouTube Partner Program (YPP) has updated its monetization eligibility requirements, according to YouTube, the top video-sharing platform in America.
Previously, in order to be paid for their work, creators had to amass a minimum of 1,000 subscribers as well as either 4,000 watch hours in the previous year or 10 million views of Shorts in the previous 90 days.
But with the new rules in place, producers can now become monetized by having at least 500 followers and posting three public videos in the last 90 days.
The requirements also include logging 3,000 watch hours in the previous year or 3 million views of Shorts in the last 90 days.
Launched in 2007, the YouTube Partner Program is a comprehensive partner initiative that offers unmatched assistance, income options, and a number of other advantages to content creators all around the world.
In 2013, the program’s scope was extended to include Nigeria, Ghana, Senegal, and Uganda as part of Google’s commitment to supporting content producers. This helped to develop a thriving and varied creative community in those countries.
Lowering the eligibility requirements may be a sign of YouTube’s dedication to luring and keeping content creators to its platform.
This tactical move is being made as rival platforms, including TikTok and Twitter, step up their efforts to woo creators with alluring monetization options.
