The Yobe State Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources has recently signed contracts worth N14 billion for the procurement of essential agricultural machinery and inputs. This strategic initiative aims to revitalize the agricultural sector in the state. Commissioner Ali Mustapha Goniri led the signing ceremony, which took place at the ministry’s conference hall in Damaturu.
During his speech, Goniri outlined the extensive procurement plan, which includes 200 motorcycles for zonal extension workers and the renovation of zonal offices in Potiskum, Gashu’a, Nguru, Geidam, Damaturu, and Buni-Yadi.

Goniri detailed the diverse array of agricultural inputs set for procurement, such as assorted seedlings, agro-chemicals, solar power pump machines with panels, multi-purpose thrashers, mini tiller machines, plow machines, hand push planters, fertilizer sprayer machines, and small ruminants for women across all 178 wards in the state. He emphasized that training and retraining extension officers are crucial to achieving the revitalization goals.
He urged the contractors to meet the high standards set by Governor Mai Mala Buni’s administration, ensuring the supply of quality equipment and solid renovations as specified in the contract agreements. This initiative aims to elevate agricultural practices and outcomes in the state.
Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Musa Abba Kollere, highlighted that this significant investment is intended to fortify the agricultural sector, especially following last year’s focus on livestock development.

He stressed the importance of giving equal attention to farming to enhance food security and expressed gratitude to Governor Buni for his unwavering support of the ministry’s initiatives.
Representing the contractors, Ahmad Haruna, Director of Operations at Salmuftah Investment Nigeria Limited, thanked the Governor for the opportunity.
He assured that the contractors would deliver quality products promptly, justifying the confidence placed in them and securing future patronage.
