NiMet’s Director General, Professor Charles Anosike, stressed the importance of timely and localized weather information to help businesses plan better and stay protected.
“With better early warnings, we reduce business losses and improve recovery,” Anosike said, calling for more investment in weather tech, skills, and inter-agency synergy.

The World Bank pledged support for upgrading Nigeria’s forecasting infrastructure and workforce.
Small business owners especially farmers, traders, and logistics providers stand to benefit from improved alerts that prevent losses caused by floods, heatwaves, and erratic rainfall.
Both parties agreed to keep working together to build a climate-smart economy that keeps businesses thriving.
