Amid Africa’s low contribution to global GDP and manufacturing value addition, the West Africa Industrialisation, Manufacturing & Trade (West Africa-IMT) Summit and Exhibition is set to take place in Lagos this year.

The statement noted that West African Heads of State have identified industrialization as a priority for economic transformation, emphasizing the region’s vast potential. These include abundant natural resources, a youthful workforce, renewable energy opportunities, arable land, a growing middle-class market, and cost-effective labor.

Despite these advantages, the region faces challenges such as climate change, geopolitical tensions impacting energy and food prices, and political uncertainties. However, the organizers are optimistic that effective reforms and favorable policies can attract investments and create a thriving business environment.

Additionally, the event will explore the adoption of advanced technologies for cleaner energy and green industrialization, enabling African nations to leapfrog towards a more rapid and efficient industrial revolution.
