Traders at Zuba International Market in the Gwagwalada Area Council have accused a developer of illegally taking control of their market, despite a court injunction aimed at maintaining the status quo. Members of the Zuba International Market Traders Association are demanding compliance with the court order, which prohibits any further actions by the developer until the matter is resolved.
According to Pereboh Sanami, the traders’ attorney, the case was brought to court to halt the developer’s activities pending a ruling. “We are perplexed as to why the developer continues work in defiance of the court order,” Sanami stated during a press briefing. Traders’ association leaders, Usman Mustapha and Kelvin Henry, expressed frustration over the disruptions caused by the ongoing construction, which they claim obstructs daily business operations.

In response, Agwu Samuel, Chief Executive Officer of Lion Property Consult Enterprises Ltd, the developer in question, defended his actions, stating he is operating under a mandate from the area council, which owns the property. He criticized the traders for misinterpreting the court’s status quo order, insisting that he has not violated any legal injunction. The situation remains tense as both sides await further legal clarity.
