The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has applauded President Bola Tinubu’s economic strategies, emphasizing the establishment of the Ministry of Livestock Development as a transformative step.
Speaking at the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria’s Annual Lecture themed “Food Security in Nigeria: Which Way Forward,” Idris described the livestock sector as an untapped gold mine with immense potential.
Idris outlined President Tinubu’s key agricultural interventions, including declaring a state of emergency on food insecurity, launching food security initiatives, and addressing hoarding and smuggling to ensure affordability and accessibility of essential commodities.
He expressed confidence in Nigeria’s ability to become a global agricultural powerhouse through collective efforts and innovative strategies.

The Minister also highlighted the media’s vital role in educating farmers on modern techniques, climate adaptability, and government programs to boost yields.
Commending the FRCN’s Director General, Dr. Mohammed Bulama, Idris praised the revival of the Annual Lecture series as a platform for national discourse aligned with FRCN’s mission to “uplift and unite the nation.”
“This ongoing challenge underscores the President’s commitment to making Nigeria self-sufficient in food production,” Idris concluded.
