TikTok’s Q3 2024 Transparency Report has highlighted Nigeria among the top 50 countries contributing to content policy violations. The platform reported removing 2.1 million videos from Nigeria, part of a global total of 147.8 million videos, as part of its ongoing efforts to uphold community guidelines centered on integrity, privacy, and safety.
Crackdown on Fraudulent and Underage Accounts
The report revealed a significant focus on detecting and removing fraudulent accounts and users suspected to be under the age of 13. During the period, TikTok:
Deleted 214.8 million accounts globally.
Removed 187.3 million fake accounts, the majority of fraudulent activity.
Suspended 24.3 million accounts linked to users under 13.
Eliminated 3.2 million accounts for unspecified reasons.

TikTok also detailed other significant actions taken to maintain its platform’s integrity:
1.3 billion comments were deleted from videos for policy violations.
12.2 million live sessions were suspended.
57.2 million fake followers and 1.1 billion fraudulent video likes were removed, with the company attributing these activities to automated or inauthentic mechanisms.
Advertising Policy Enforcement
Interestingly, the platform reported a decline in the number of ads removed for violating advertising policies or due to account-level enforcement actions in Q3 2024. While no specific figures were provided, this indicates possible improvements in ad compliance or a shift in enforcement priorities.
