On Friday, the Federal Government will begin accepting applications for its three million-person digital skill empowerment scheme.
This was revealed on Wednesday at a fireside chat hosted by TechCabal at Moonshot by the Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani.
He also said that anyone seeking technical abilities as well as trainers would be able to apply.
He revealed that 30,000 Nigerians will be the target audience for the program’s initial phase. “You will see applications being released for both trainers and those who want to be fellows,” Tijani said. “Starting from this Friday.”

The minister recently revealed a strategy in his roadmap to train three million Nigerians in technology over the following four years. “Our dedication to talent development is unwavering,” he declared. Over the next four years, we have set an ambitious target of training three million early- to mid-career technical talent.
The minister highlighted Andela’s success in Nigeria while claiming that his strategy was workable. He claims that the ministry wants to start out modestly before expanding greatly.
So, in everything we do, we won’t begin by stating that we aim to train 3 million people. The strategy we’re going to employ is that we’ll start with 1% of that in the first 0–3 months”, he said.
