The ongoing National Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Conference at the State House in Abuja has seen a remarkable commitment from top government officials to support local entrepreneurs. On Thursday, October 3rd, exhibitors displayed a variety of locally made products, capturing the attention of dignitaries present at the event.
Among them, the Speaker of the House of Representatives conducted an insightful inspection of the exhibition stands. During the tour, the Speaker actively patronized local businesses by purchasing several products and encouraging exhibitors to expand their reach by exporting their offerings.
He emphasized the importance of not only promoting local consumption but also ensuring that Nigerian products meet international standards.

“By choosing to buy from our local businesses and encouraging exports, we can enhance our economy and foster self-sufficiency,” the Speaker stated. He further stressed the significance of ensuring that all products are NAFDAC certified, as this will boost consumer confidence and open doors to international markets.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and the Honourable Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, also participated in the initiative, engaging with exhibitors and making her own purchases. She echoed the Speaker’s sentiments, highlighting the need to support indigenous businesses as a crucial strategy for strengthening Nigeria’s economy.
