In a resolute declaration, the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) has reaffirmed its commitment to bolstering the endeavors of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), with a special focus on female-led businesses.
Charles Odii, the Director General of SMEDAN, made this assertion during the commemoration of the 2024 International Women’s Day at the agency’s headquarters in Abuja.
Unveiling the agency’s revamped logo, Odii underscored the significance of the new brand in fostering prosperity for SME owners, particularly women who comprise more than 70% of SMEs in Nigeria.
He emphasized that the timing of the brand launch on International Women’s Day epitomizes SMEDAN’s unwavering dedication to women’s empowerment.
Odii articulated, “As the agency entrusted with shepherding nano businesses into micro, micro into small, and small into medium enterprises, we recognize the imperative of adaptation and progress.
Our revamped brand symbolizes our renewed commitment to SMEs, echoing our aspiration to serve as catalysts for their prosperity.”
Elaborating further, Odii emphasized SMEDAN’s redoubled efforts in empowering women, ensuring they receive the requisite support and acknowledgment for their contributions to productivity.

The new SMEDAN epitomizes inclusivity, advocating for the collective prosperity of all Nigerian businesspersons.”
