The Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) provided 40 entrepreneurs with information and communication technology (ICT) skills and laptop computers on Thursday in Abuja.
Dr Olawale Fasanya, Director-General of SMEDAN, presented the laptops to the recipients at the conclusion of a three-day ICT/digital skills training program for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
He stated that the goal of the program was to provide the youth with the knowledge and resources they needed to grow their enterprises.
While emphasizing the importance of ICT in business, Fasanya stated that ICT in business helped to provide tools and systems that enable effective communication, data management, analysis, and decision-making processes.
According to him, it also boosts productivity, increases consumer engagement, and provides the entrepreneur with a competitive advantage.
“You can be in Nigeria and conduct business in the United States.” You are not required to conduct business until you establish a shop or a workplace in your bedroom.
“With these tools, you can do a lot.” So, this is the plan, and I am pleased,” he said.
Fasanya advised the recipients to use their new skills and tools to benefit their businesses, their families, and the nation’s economy.
While assuring that SMEDAN will continue to assist beneficiaries in expanding their enterprises, Fasanya also stated that their activities would be monitored.
