SMEDAN showcases Nigerian innovation to Solid Minerals Minister

The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN), led by its Director General, Charles Odii, has taken a significant step towards promoting local innovation and economic growth by showcasing the potential of Nigerian SMEs to the Honorable Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake.


During a recent meeting, SMEDAN presented its #GROWNigerian strategy, a comprehensive plan aimed at supporting the growth and development of small and medium-sized enterprises in Nigeria. The agency also unveiled a collection of innovative products from top Nigerian SMEs, highlighting the creativity and ingenuity of the country’s entrepreneurs.


One of the standout products showcased during the meeting was Loom Chocolate, the winner of the pitch competition at the 2024 National MSME Conference.

This innovative brand demonstrated the potential for Nigerian SMEs to compete on a global scale with high-quality, locally produced goods.


Other notable items included BTLForever_, a rising leather and footwear brand, handwoven table mats from ConceptsEstera, a smoke detector from AmalTech_NG, and other made-in-Nigeria products.


SMEDAN’s message to the minister was clear: “Patronize Nigerian” to support local innovation, create jobs, and drive economic growth. The agency emphasized the importance of fostering a thriving SME ecosystem in Nigeria and the role the government can play in providing the necessary support.


The agency took to its official X handle to share the highlights of the meeting, including the presentation of the #GROWNigerian strategy and the unveiling of innovative products from Nigerian SMEs.
