SMEDAN partners with Cross River to empower 500 entrepreneurs

The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) has announced its partnership with the Cross River State government in support of the GROW Cross River Summit, which took place in Calabar yesterday.

The initiative marks the state’s commitment to the GROW Nigerian strategy through the relaunch of the Entrepreneurship Development Center and the awarding of certificates to 500 graduates. SMEDAN shared this update on their official handle on X, highlighting their active role in the event.

During the summit, SMEDAN supported the top 50 graduates with grants, further solidifying its partnership with the state’s Microfinance and Enterprise Development Agency (MEDA) under the leadership of Mr. Great Ogban.

This collaboration was reinforced following a courtesy visit by MEDA delegates, led by Mr. Ogban, to the SMEDAN Director-General in Abuja.

The partnership between SMEDAN and MEDA is set to empower small business owners across Cross River State. The MEDA Director-General also confirmed readiness for the upcoming Grow Cross River State Summit/Business Clinic on August 21, 2024, in Calabar.

The event, organized by SMEDAN as part of the Grow Nigeria Roadmap, will feature business clinics and a trade fair promoting products manufactured in the state.

SMEDAN Director-General, Charles Odii, expressed the agency’s commitment to supporting enterprise development efforts in Cross River State.

He also noted plans to establish an industrial development park in the state to further enhance local products and services.

Key figures in attendance included Barr. Ikpi Itam, Manager of Investment, Funding, and Credit Department at CRSMEDA; Okon Ebi, Senior Investment, Funding, and Credit Officer at CRSMEDA; Moshood Lawal, Head of Corporate Affairs at SMEDAN Headquarters; and Peter Shina, Special Assistant on Media to the DG of SMEDAN.
