The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) actively participated in a two-day workshop focused on the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA), aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s export capacity.
The event, jointly organized by USAID Nigeria and Prosper Africa, targeted export-ready businesses, equipping them with knowledge on the AGOA framework, which allows duty-free exports of certain goods to the United States.
During the event, SMEDAN’s Director General, Charles Odii, underscored the significance of such collaborations in driving the agency’s #GROWNigerian strategy.
He noted that the workshop aligns with SMEDAN’s ongoing efforts to enhance Nigeria-US trade relations by empowering Nigerian SMEs to access the lucrative U.S. market.

Odii stressed that building a solid foundation for SMEs to export high-quality goods would not only expand their market reach but also contribute significantly to Nigeria’s economic growth.
SMEDAN remains committed to working with key stakeholders to provide education, support, and remove bureaucratic obstacles that hinder the export potential of Nigerian SMEs.
The agency’s involvement in initiatives like this AGOA workshop is part of a broader effort to ensure that more businesses are equipped to compete globally and benefit from international trade agreements.
