At the Startup Nations Policy Roundtable during the Global Entrepreneurship Congress in Indiana, the Director General of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN), Charles Odii, presented a transformative vision for Nigeria’s MSME sector.
His remarks focused on three strategic pillars: democratizing access to finance, institutionalizing the MSME council, and leveraging data to drive innovation and inclusivity.

He stressed the importance of translating global insights into local solutions creating systems that are inclusive, responsive, and reflective of the realities entrepreneurs face daily.
“In Nigeria, SMEs don’t just need encouragement they need real tools, structures, and policies that allow them to thrive,” Odii noted, reiterating SMEDAN’s commitment to empowering grassroots enterprise as a pathway to sustainable economic growth.
