Ikoyi-Obalende Local Government has been honored with the prestigious “Most MSME-Friendly Local Government in Lagos” award at the ongoing MSME Conference in Abuja.
This recognition celebrates the local government’s outstanding commitment to fostering an enabling environment for small businesses, particularly through innovative programs that empower local entrepreneurs.
A key factor behind the award is the success of the Ikoyi-Obalende Small Business Empowerment Program, convened by LCDA Chairman Hon. Fuad Atanda-Lawal.
As part of this initiative, the “Empowering Her Fortune Initiative 2.0” was launched, providing N50 million in grants to women-owned SMEs, demonstrating the local government’s focus on empowering female entrepreneurs.

This award reinforces Ikoyi-Obalende’s role as a leader in grassroots economic development, leveraging strategic partnerships and targeted initiatives to uplift the local business community.
The Director General previously noted on Twitter, “We are collaborating with local government administrators nationwide to increase access to opportunities at the grassroots. This is achieved through programs that provide support to small businesses via their registered cooperatives.”
Ikoyi-Obalende’s continued efforts in supporting MSMEs make it a model for other local governments, underscoring the importance of local leadership in driving economic empowerment.
