The Director-General of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) has met with the Governor of Kwara State and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, to strengthen collaboration between federal and state governments in supporting micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

The meeting focused on aligning interventions, scaling impactful programs, and fostering a more enabling environment for small businesses across the country.

“Deepening relationships with state governments is key to amplifying the impact of our work and ensuring better coordination around policies that support small businesses,” the SMEDAN boss said.

He noted that the session with Governor AbdulRazaq was productive and forward-looking, with both parties exchanging ideas on how to drive local enterprise and unlock economic opportunities at the grassroots level.

The discussion also covered how SMEDAN and state governments can jointly develop tailored initiatives to strengthen enterprise clusters and improve access to finance, infrastructure, and capacity-building programs.

“I appreciate the Governor’s insight, openness, and strong commitment to inclusive growth,” he added, stating that he looks forward to presenting the proposed collaborative framework to the full Nigeria Governors’ Forum.

The move is part of SMEDAN’s broader efforts to foster a more coordinated and enterprise-friendly ecosystem for Nigeria’s MSME sector, which remains a vital driver of employment and economic resilience.
