Vice President Kashim Shettima has directed the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) to review and release new 2026 Hajj fares within two days, following President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s instruction for an immediate adjustment.

Sharing the update today on his official X handle, the Vice President explained that the move became necessary as the naira continues to appreciate against the dollar a key determinant of international travel costs.

The review is expected to bring financial relief to intending pilgrims while boosting small and medium-sized businesses connected to Hajj operations, including travel agencies, logistics firms, forex dealers, and accommodation service providers.
During a meeting with NAHCON officials at the Presidential Villa, Shettima called for synergy between federal and state stakeholders to ensure a fair, transparent, and efficient fare structure a step analysts say will inject liquidity into the travel and hospitality sectors and support economic growth.
