Senator Saliu Mustapha, representing Kwara Central, has underscored the vital role of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in fostering economic growth and empowering communities.
Speaking through the Director General of the Saliu Mustapha Foundation, Alhaji Shuaib Adebayo, Mustapha introduced an SME empowerment initiative aimed at Fruit and Vegetable Value Addition, targeting youth and women.

The program is designed to provide participants with start-up capital, essential tools, and entrepreneurial skills to enhance their economic standing and promote self-reliance. Mustapha urged beneficiaries to use the resources wisely, emphasizing that the initiative aims to improve livelihoods, not for personal gain.
The Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Alhaji Abdulrasaq Olanrewaju Adio, highlighted the thorough selection process of beneficiaries from over 50 markets. Other speakers, including Mr. Nasir Abdulkadir and Queen Aminat Alabi, encouraged recipients to adopt innovative approaches and take calculated risks.
The Iyaloja General of Kwara State, Alhaja Muibat Olumo, praised Mustapha for his focus on women’s empowerment. Beneficiaries expressed gratitude, acknowledging the program’s impact on their business skills and livelihoods.
