Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, emphasized the necessity of low interest rates to facilitate financial support for businesses during the celebration of International Women’s Day at the Blue Roof Ikeja.

Governor Sanwo-Olu, represented by his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, stressed the pivotal role of MSMEs in job creation and economic development, underscoring the need for affordable loans with single-digit interest rates to unlock their full potential.

Highlighting the state’s commitment to women’s empowerment, Sanwo-Olu pledged to expand empowerment programs to encompass more women, providing them with capital, training, and networking opportunities essential for business growth.

The event, themed “Economic Inclusion of Women Entrepreneurs at the Grassroots/Community Level,” facilitated discussions on financing platforms, digital marketing training, financial inclusion, and the provision of free Point of Sales Machines (PoS) to augment women-owned businesses.

Speaking at the event organized by the Ministry of Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade, and Investment in collaboration with Women Entrepreneurs and Professional Development Network (WEPDN), Commissioner Folashade Ambrose-Medebem emphasized the significant contributions of women to economic prosperity while acknowledging the challenges hindering their empowerment.

Ambrose-Medebem reiterated the Lagos State government’s commitment to implementing programs aimed at removing barriers hindering women’s economic empowerment and inclusion, ensuring a conducive environment for their businesses to thrive.
