There was a brief halt in activities at the bustling Rumuwoji (Mile 1) market on Tuesday as traders and residents of Diobu, Port Harcourt, paused to show support for the End-bad-governance protest. The demonstrators, a large crowd of passionate individuals, had marched from the Mile 3 axis along Ikwerre Road, heading toward the government house on Nnamdi Azikiwe Road.
As the protest reached the Mile 1 market, traders and shop owners temporarily left their stalls to join the crowd, waving leaves as a symbol of peace. The protesters, including youths, women, children, and even bus conductors, chanted slogans like “Tinubu must go!” in unison.

Vehicles traveling along Ikwerre Road displayed green leaves in solidarity, and police officers stationed at the Mile 1 Police Station observed the scene. Among the protesters was a heavily pregnant woman who expressed her frustration with the worsening economic conditions in Nigeria. She shared how her participation, despite her pregnancy, was driven by concern for her children’s future.
The protest at Mile 1 was peaceful, with no incidents of looting or property damage, highlighting the community’s unity and determination to call for change.
