In a groundbreaking move, the Plateau State government, in conjunction with GIZ, has initiated a steering committee under the Sustainable and Inclusive Economic Development for Decent Employment in Nigeria (SEDIN) program. The Deputy Governor, Josephine Piyo, on behalf of Governor Mutfwang, made the announcement during the inauguration of the steering committee in Jos.
Governor Mutfwang highlighted the significance of the initiative, emphasizing its goal to enhance the competitiveness of Nigerian micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) while fostering growth and job creation. SEDIN, implemented by GIZ, aims to improve the institutional, regulatory, and procedural framework for entrepreneurial activities. The program also seeks to facilitate access to new markets and innovative financing solutions, ultimately creating an environment conducive to job creation and economic growth.
“To ensure the successful implementation of SEDIN in Plateau State, a high-level, state-level steering committee is key,” stated Governor Mutfwang. The committee will act as a crucial link between the program and state partners, providing support and guidance, reviewing strategic direction, and participating in discussions on program planning and implementation.

The Secretary to the Government of the State, Arc. Samuel Jatau, will serve as the chairperson of the steering committee, with the GIZ-SEDIN state office acting as the secretariat. The establishment of this committee marks a crucial step toward achieving SEDIN’s objectives and fostering collaboration between public and private sectors to create an enabling environment for MSMEs to thrive, innovate, and contribute to economic growth and job creation in Plateau State.
