The Presidential Initiative on Compressed Natural Gas (PI-CNG) has advanced Nigeria’s clean energy agenda through a strategic working visit to China, led by its Executive Chairman and CEO, Barrister Ismaeel Ahmed. The visit concluded with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with YJT Environment Technology Ltd to localise the manufacturing of integrated CNG refuelling units plus electric vehicle charging stations in Nigeria. The initiative supports the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda and its drive toward sustainable energy solutions.
The agreement is expected to reduce dependence on imported infrastructure while creating new opportunities for SMEs involved in manufacturing, installation, maintenance, and supply chain services. Local production of CNG and EV infrastructure will help stimulate domestic value creation while improving access to cleaner energy technologies across the country.

During the engagement, the PI-CNG delegation also held discussions with a specialised CNG conversion-kit manufacturer preparing to establish assembly lines in Nigeria. This development is projected to create jobs, support skills transfer, and accelerate the adoption of cost-effective mobility solutions nationwide.
For small businesses and investors, the initiative signals growing opportunities within Nigeria’s clean energy ecosystem. As adoption expands, SMEs are positioned to benefit from increased demand, partnerships, and long-term participation in the country’s evolving green economy.
