Minister of Foreign Affairs Yusuf Tuggar emphasized Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with China based on mutual respect and shared developmental goals. This was disclosed in a statement by Alkasim Abdulkadir, the Minister’s Special Assistant on Media and Communication.

Tuggar began his official visit to China on June 19, at the invitation of Chinese counterpart Wang Yi. He delivered a keynote address at the China-Nigeria Business Exchange, co-organized by the Nigerian Embassy and Yingke Law Firm, aimed at facilitating bilateral trade, investment, and business matchmaking.

“This event underscores our dedication to enhancing Nigeria-China relations,” Tuggar remarked. “By promoting direct business interactions, we are creating pathways for increased trade, investment opportunities, and innovative collaborations beneficial to both nations.” Over 200 Chinese companies participated, reflecting strong interest in economic partnerships.

Tuggar’s visit includes high-level meetings such as the inaugural plenary of the Nigeria-China intergovernmental committee in Beijing and the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting of the New Champions in Dalian. He is also scheduled to meet with ECOWAS Ambassadors and launch the 4-D Cultural Diplomacy Programme of the Renewed Hope Agenda by President Bola Tinubu.

Expected outcomes include advancing Nigeria’s development goals, improving infrastructure, healthcare, and education, and attracting Foreign Direct Investment (FDI). The event attracted notable Nigerian dignitaries and business leaders, including Aisha Rimi, CEO of the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC), and Khalil Suleiman Halilu, CEO of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI).
