Osun Gov. backs FG’s livestock reform to boost food production

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has pledged his administration’s full support for the Federal Government’s livestock reform initiative aimed at enhancing food security nationwide.

The reforms, spearheaded by the Presidential Livestock Reforms Implementation Committee, were the focus of an advocacy visit to Adeleke’s office in Osogbo, led by the committee’s Co-Chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega.

During the meeting, Adeleke reaffirmed Osun’s commitment to aligning with federal initiatives to advance agricultural productivity.

In a statement by Kolapo Alimi, Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Adeleke highlighted ongoing efforts, including the recent procurement of 31 tractors for state farmers and the distribution of seedlings and other incentives.

He emphasized his administration’s dedication to integrating the federal reforms into Osun’s broader agricultural agenda.

“My administration is committed to any initiative that puts food on the table of Nigerians. We will leave no stone unturned in ensuring the success of these reforms,” Adeleke stated.

Jega urged the state to establish a Ministry or agency focused on livestock to maximize the benefits of the initiative, aiming to position Osun as a key player in Nigeria’s agricultural transformation.
