The Ondo State government has begun the distribution of ₦220 million in loans to support artisans and small business owners, aiming to boost the local economy.
At a cheque presentation event held in Akure on Tuesday, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, represented by Deputy Governor Olayide Adelami, emphasized the significant role of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in driving economic growth.
The governor highlighted the loan initiative as part of the administration’s strategy to alleviate poverty, reduce unemployment, and address youth restiveness.

He urged beneficiaries to ensure timely repayment, noting that this would enable the government to expand the program.
“The prompt repayment of these loans will encourage us to inject more funds into the scheme, as we are committed to expanding its reach,” Governor Aiyedatiwa stated.
Additionally, the governor affirmed that the administration has heavily invested in various sectors and remains dedicated to implementing policies and programs designed to uplift the people of Ondo State.
