The Ogun State Government has encouraged youths to explore opportunities in the non-oil sector as a path to becoming successful exporters and entrepreneurs.
This was highlighted at the opening of a 2-day mentorship programme organized by the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) and the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment in Abeokuta.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Adebola Sofela, Commissioner for Industry, Trade and Investment, emphasized the vital role of youth in innovation and entrepreneurship.
Represented by Dr. Olu Ola Aikulola, the Permanent Secretary, Sofela urged participants to leverage digital platforms and develop exportable products that meet global standards.

The workshop drew participants from Junior Chambers International, NACCIMA Youth Entrepreneurs, and other initiatives. Ogun State, Sofela noted, has implemented policies to support businesses and ease access to finance, aiming to boost non-oil exports.
NEPC State Coordinator, Mrs. Francisca Odega, praised the government’s continued efforts to promote trade, expressing confidence that the mentorship would provide lasting benefits for participants.
