In a bid to promote financial independence among women and youth, the Ogun State government, through its Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, has trained over 300 women in various vocational skills. On Tuesday, the state government distributed essential tools, including sewing machines, locally made ovens, pedicure kits, stoning machines, and industrial burners to the trainees.
The women were trained in skills such as fashion designing, catering, cosmetology, and beauty care. This initiative is part of a broader scheme by the Governor Dapo Abiodun-led administration to combat poverty and unemployment, with over 20,000 beneficiaries to date.
Hon. Adijat Adeleye, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, highlighted the importance of these vocational skills for personal advancement and the growth of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).
