In a groundbreaking revelation, Brigadier General YD Ahmed, the Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), announced that a staggering 565,489 corps members have reaped the benefits of the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme.
This initiative, aimed at fostering self-reliance and economic empowerment, has seen corps members receive diverse levels of training.
General Ahmed further disclosed that 11,881 individuals have been financially bolstered through collaborative efforts, resulting in the establishment and successful operation of numerous businesses.
Notably, key regions including the North East, North Central, and North West have witnessed the construction and handover of state-of-the-art skill acquisition centers, thanks to partnerships with entities such as Access Bank Plc.
Moreover, the NYSC, in conjunction with various foundations, has undertaken the mammoth task of sensitizing 3.306 million corps members on financial literacy and entrepreneurship.

A remarkable 32,402 corps members have undergone extensive training on ‘kick-starting my business fundamentals’, paving the way for a new generation of innovative entrepreneurs.
In his address, General Ahmed expressed profound gratitude to collaborating partners for their unwavering support. He highlighted initiatives such as the Activate Success International Foundation’s Youth Entrepreneurship and Empowerment Programme (YEEP), which has provided grants to 69 corps entrepreneurs for business startups.
Furthermore, partnerships with organizations like Kudimata and the NNPC Foundation have yielded tangible results, with over 30,000 businesses of corps members slated for registration at a discounted rate by the Corporate Affairs Commission.
In acknowledging the strides made, General Ahmed emphasized the NYSC’s commitment to enhancing the SAED programme’s efficacy and positioning it as a beacon of youth empowerment nationwide. He underscored the collective resolve to tackle the scourge of unemployment among youths, affirming the NYSC’s unwavering dedication to this noble cause.
