December outlook: A bigger box office boom?
As the festive season approaches, Nollywood is gearing up for a potentially record-breaking December, historically a lucrative period for Nigerian cinemas. Major upcoming releases from Funke Akindele and Toyin Abraham, both known for their holiday blockbusters, are expected to boost revenues further.
Last December saw massive hits like Battle on Buka Street and Ijakumo: Born Again Stripper. However, with cumulative revenues already exceeding N8 billion, Nollywood insiders are optimistic about closing the year with N11–N12 billion in box office earnings.
Nollywood: A growing cultural and economic force
This year’s record-breaking performance highlights Nollywood’s evolution as a global entertainment powerhouse and a driver of economic growth in Nigeria. By consistently delivering high-quality productions that resonate with diverse audiences, the industry is cementing its role as Africa’s largest and most vibrant film sector.
As Nollywood continues to innovate and attract investment, the future promises even greater milestones for Nigeria’s cultural narrative and economic impact.
