At the IoT West Africa Conference in Lagos, NITDA DG Kashifu Inuwa, represented by Dr. Ayodele Bakare, delivered a keynote highlighting the critical role of IoT and AI in Africa’s digital transformation.
He emphasized the urgency of building digital talent across Nigeria, particularly in rural and underserved areas.
This push aligns with NITDA’s goal to achieve 95% digital literacy by 2030 and 70% by 2027 under President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

The DG also advocated for inclusive and ethical regulatory frameworks for AI and IoT and called for increased support for local startups through improved funding, infrastructure, and market access.
He stressed the need for collaboration among government, industry, academia, civil society, and global partners like Smart Africa and AfCFTA to unlock Africa’s digital potential.
