In a promising leap towards self-sufficiency, young entrepreneurs in Kano State, Nigeria, have begun manufacturing USB cables for phones and tablets.
Historically, Nigeria has heavily relied on imports for these essential tech accessories, but this new initiative marks a significant shift towards local production.
Social media reactions highlight widespread support and optimism. One user remarked, “This is a welcomed development. Nigeria needs to move from consumption to production, so we can progress as a nation.
”I wish the FG would empower the producers of these USB cables, rather than waste resources on less impactful projects. Nigeria’s natural and mineral wealth, combined with our population, could drive significant progress if only we had better leadership.”

Another commentator praised the initiative, saying, “This is very nice. To be very honest, Hausas have young creatives but they don’t get enough support.”
However, concerns about inadequate support systems were also voiced, with a user noting, “They lack an education system to support them.”
This local manufacturing breakthrough highlights a growing trend in Nigerian entrepreneurship, underscoring the potential for homegrown solutions to drive economic growth.
