Obi stated that Nigeria would become a great nation by being a producing nation rather than a consuming one. Obi gave the keynote presentation at the 47th annual conference and general meeting of the Nigerian Institute of Food Science and Technology (NIFST) yesterday in Umuahia, the capital of Abia State.

The former governor of Anambra State expressed his dedication to achieving full employment and a nation free from crime and bandits, saying that despite the state’s vast territory of 923,769 square kilometers, agriculture has not received the proper attention.
According to Obi, Nigeria would rise to greatness by turning from a nation of consumers to one of producers. Yesterday in Umuahia, the capital of Abia State, Obi delivered the keynote address at the 47th annual conference and general meeting of the Nigerian Institute of Food Science and Technology (NIFST).
The former governor of Anambra State stated that despite the state’s large area (923,769 square kilometers), agriculture has not received the required attention and he was committed to achieving full employment and a nation free from crime and bandits.
Prof. Joseph Abu, President of NIFST, bemoaned Nigeria’s incapacity to feed its people and voiced concern over the country’s continued expending of enormous sums of limited foreign money on food imports.
He claims that promoting locally produced processed meals abroad will strengthen the nation’s economy and sustainably raise the amount of wholesome traditional foods.
