Nigeria and India are deepening their long-standing economic and trade partnership, with a focus on exploring new areas of cooperation. This was the highlight of the Nigeria-India Bilateral Business Meeting held in Lagos on Thursday.
Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) President, Mr. Gabriel Idahosa, represented by Deputy President Mr. Leye Kupoluyi, emphasized the need for both nations to diversify their engagements amidst a shifting global economic landscape.
India’s Deputy High Commissioner to Nigeria, Ms. Shobhanah Rawat, underscored the importance of direct connectivity to boost trade and people-to-people interactions.

She noted that while Air Peace’s direct Lagos-Mumbai flight has been suspended, Indian airlines are seeking approvals for new routes.
Rawat encouraged Nigerian businesses to leverage India’s expertise in fintech, AI, vaccine manufacturing, and green growth to drive economic progress.
She also highlighted India’s capacity-building support for over 160 countries, emphasizing education and technology transfer as key areas of collaboration.
Both nations are set to expand their trade relations beyond traditional sectors, fostering stronger business and cultural ties.
