In a bid to fast-track Nigeria’s industrialization, the National Economic Council (NEC) has called on state governments to adopt technological innovations developed by the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI).
The resolution was made during the 146th NEC meeting, chaired by Vice President Kashim Shettima at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. Following a presentation by NASENI’s Executive Vice Chairman, Khalil Suleiman Halilu, the Council endorsed the agency’s strategic roadmap aimed at economic transformation through technology transfer and adaptation.
NASENI’s initiatives span sectors including renewable energy, health, agriculture, smart transportation, and defense. Highlights included innovations like electric vehicles, solar home systems for rural electrification, and coal-based fertilizers to boost agriculture.

The agency also detailed its ongoing projects, such as vaccine factories and renewable energy parks, while announcing $3.23 billion in attracted investments.
The Council praised NASENI’s efforts and directed the establishment of lithium battery factories and the repair of tractors under the National Asset Restoration Programme. It also emphasized state-level partnerships to unlock Nigeria’s industrial potential.
NASENI reiterated its commitment to driving local manufacturing and sustainable development through technology-driven solutions.
