In order to increase modern agricultural output in Taraba, the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) on Monday launched the training orientation for 100 youths on the Sustainable Agricultural Development Training Scheme (SADTS).
During the occasion in Jalingo, Danjuma Shehu, the directorate’s Taraba state coordinator, remarked that the program was in keeping with the federal government’s policy on agriculture, which aims to promote empowerment through wealth creation and food security.
He added that the program would assist increase farm revenue, encourage environmental stewardship, and improve the standard of living for farmers and their communities.
“This program is in keeping with the federal government’s strategy on agriculture, which seeks to empower people by generating income and ensuring food security. The goal is to increase the output of modern agriculture, contribute to more profitable farm income, encourage environmental stewardship, and improve the standard of living for farmers and their communities.
“Our target group includes all unemployed young people, from school dropouts to college grads, as well as people with unique needs, such as disabled people, albinos, and anyone else who has a passion for agriculture as a business.

Three (3) months of intensive training in many facets of contemporary agricultural production, including two (2) weeks of hands-on instruction in both livestock and crops, would be required of the trainees. The remaining time would be devoted to a production exercise on the adaptive farm.
“For a duration of three months, trainees will receive a $5,000 monthly stipend, while resource people for tutorial classes will receive a $10,000 payment. The training will be overseen to make sure that it has the desired effect and that the resources provided are used for effective monitoring and assessment of the exercise, the speaker said.
Mr. Usman Zakari responded, thanking NDE for the program and promising to uphold the directorate’s reputation.
