NDE empowers 108 entrepreneurs in Kogi

The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) in Kogi State, Nigeria, has successfully empowered 108 individuals with essential business skills, paving the way for them to become thriving entrepreneurs. Under various initiatives aimed at fostering economic growth and reducing unemployment, the NDE provided comprehensive training and financial support to aspiring business owners across different sectors.

Led by Abdulmalik Tijjani Ibrahim, the NDE’s Public Relations Officer in Kogi State, the agency conducted rigorous business development programs tailored for small-scale business proprietors. Notably, 98 individuals received vital financial assistance through the Micro Enterprise Enhancement Scheme (MEES), while an additional four participants underwent training as part of the ‘Start Your Own Business’ (SYOB) initiative.

In a concerted effort to empower women entrepreneurs, the NDE extended soft loans to four businesswomen under the Basic Business Training (BBT) program. Additionally, two women were facilitated with startup ventures through the Mature People’s Programme (MPP). The agency also dedicated resources to train 70 unemployed graduates under the Small Scale Enterprises Programme, highlighting its commitment to fostering inclusive economic growth.

Mr. Ibidun Abiodun Amos, the Kogi State Coordinator, emphasized the significance of the recent training conducted by the Small Scale Enterprises (SSE) Department of the Directorate. With a breakdown revealing 108 unemployed individuals benefiting from the program, including MEES recipients, BBT and SYOB beneficiaries, MPP beneficiaries, and graduates trained under the SSE scheme, the impact of NDE’s initiatives on local communities is palpable.

In reaffirming the agency’s commitment to its mission, Mr. Nuhu Fikpo, the Director-General of NDE, credited the achievements to the unwavering support and political will of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, prioritizing job creation and poverty alleviation, provided the necessary framework for NDE’s impactful initiatives. With this support, the NDE continues to empower individuals, driving economic prosperity and fostering entrepreneurship across Nigeria.
