The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has concluded a three-week specialised training on Structural Steel Fabrication in Port Harcourt, aimed at strengthening the local supply chain for oil and gas projects.
The programme equipped young Nigerians with practical fabrication skills, positioning them for opportunities within the country’s energy and engineering value chain. For SMEs in metalworks, fabrication, and servicing, the training enhances the pool of competent talent needed to support local projects.
Director of Kinetium, Ulari Nwaogazie, commended NCDMB for partnering with private-sector players to grow technical capacity, noting that such collaborations help small businesses access trained manpower and improve service delivery.

Representing the board, Engr. Prince Zubai encouraged participants to apply their new skills, stressing that developing local technical talent reduces reliance on foreign expertise and empowers SMEs to take on bigger contracts.
The initiative forms part of NCDMB’s broader plan to train over 10,000 youths in high-demand skills—an effort expected to strengthen local enterprises, close industry skill gaps, and unlock more business opportunities for SMEs servicing the oil and gas sector.
