The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) to strengthen food safety and quality systems in Nigeria.
The agreement, formalised at NAFDAC’s Corporate Headquarters in Abuja, aims to improve regulatory frameworks, enhance product quality, and ensure safer food production nationwide.

For small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the food sector, this partnership presents opportunities to align with global best practices, access training on safety compliance, and improve product marketability both locally and internationally.
By raising industry standards, the collaboration is expected to boost consumer trust, reduce foodborne risks, and support SMEs in meeting export requirements.
NAFDAC and WFP reaffirmed their commitment to working closely with local producers, processors, and distributors to achieve sustainable improvements in Nigeria’s food value chain.
