NAFDAC has intensified enforcement actions in Kano to curb the sale of expired, unregistered, and substandard food and cosmetic products — a move that directly affects traders, supermarket owners, and small distributors across the city.

Following complaints from concerned residents, the agency carried out a three-day market raid, targeting Singer Market and several major supermarkets within the Kano metropolis. During the operation, officials seized large quantities of unregistered and expired goods, including popular food and beauty items stocked in well-known retail outlets.

The regulatory agency says investigations are ongoing to track the distributors and suppliers behind the circulation of these products. Traders and business owners found in breach of NAFDAC standards may face penalties or prosecution.

NAFDAC has called on the public and business operators to stay alert and report any suspicious or unregistered products to the nearest agency office.

The agency reaffirmed its commitment to public health and emphasized that only certified, safe products should be made available in the Nigerian market.
