As Nigeria intensifies efforts to achieve food security, agribusiness stakeholders are being urged to embrace innovative and efficient farming systems to meet the demands of a growing population and changing economy.
Speaking during a lecture organized by a Nigerian university, an agricultural expert stressed that reforming traditional farming methods is no longer optional but essential for unlocking Nigeria’s full agribusiness potential.
> “We must rethink and refine our farming systems if we hope to meet the nutritional and economic needs of our growing population,” he said.

The event is part of the university’s broader initiative to promote sustainable agricultural transformation in Nigeria and across Africa — a move that aligns with national goals to boost food production, reduce import dependency, and create jobs through agribusiness.
For small business owners in the agriculture value chain, the message is clear: sustainability, innovation, and investment in modern practices will be key drivers of growth in the sector.
Experts at the forum also called on policymakers, agripreneurs, and investors to work together to scale up access to financing, agri-tech solutions, and farmer education to ensure Nigeria can not only feed itself but also become a net exporter of agricultural produce.
