The Malaysian government has allocated RM33.8 billion to execute 325 initiatives aimed at supporting micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) this year, a 118% increase from the RM15.48 billion allocated in 2023.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi announced that the initiatives, led by 14 ministries and over 50 agencies, will benefit more than 578,000 MSMEs nationwide.
The programmes are part of the SME Integrated Plan of Action (SMEIPA), designed to monitor and evaluate MSME progress. For the first time, SMEIPA has achieved full reporting on its 2024 initiatives, reflecting improved coordination and engagement across government levels.

The government also aims to boost the number of medium-sized enterprises to 5% by 2027 and create a Malaysian unicorn under the 13th Malaysia Plan (2026–2030). Budget 2025 will reinforce these goals with RM40 billion allocated for MSME loans, grants, and capacity development.
These efforts underscore Malaysia’s commitment to transforming its MSME sector into a key driver of economic growth and innovation.
