Lawmakers distribute pumping machines, others to 220 farmers to promote dry-season farming

In order to support dry season farming in the constituency in Nasarawa State, North Central, Nigeria, House of Representatives member Jeremiah Umaru (APC- Akwanga/Nasarawa-Eggon/Wamba Federal Constituency) at the national assembly gave fertilizer, pumping machines, and backpack sprayers to 220 farmers.

Following a rigorous three days of instruction on cutting-edge storage methods and agricultural business potential, each participant received “one pumping machine, knapsack sprayer, and two bags of fertilisers at the end of the training.”

The member stated, “The training was to equip the farmers with the technical knowhow to ensure food security,” during the training’s conclusion ceremony on Saturday in the Akwanga Local Government Area (LGA) of Nasarawa State.

In order to combat hunger and provide food security, Umaru “decided to empower them to encourage dry season farming,” according to Bala Moses-John, his special adviser on constituency projects.


The initiative for farmers’ empowerment and training, he continued, was organized in association with the Federal College of Agriculture, Produce Technology, Kano, Kano State.

According to Umaru, the recipients came from the 35 electoral wards spread across the three Local Government Areas (LGAs) that comprised the constituency.

Nassarawa-Eggon has fourteen electoral wards, Akwanga has eleven, and Wamba has ten.

The member pledged to keep bringing his constituents numerous empowerment initiatives in various fields in order to support their vote-based mandate.


Therefore, Umaru pledged to maintain an open door policy and support the local populace regardless of their racial, religious, or political connections.

Speaking on behalf of Produce Kano, a member of the Federal College of Agriculture, Amina Usman praised the member for working with them to empower farmers in his region.

Additionally, he expressed gratitude to the resource people for spending the time necessary to “teach the participants about modern storage techniques, business opportunities in agriculture, and dry season farming.”

Speaking on behalf of the recipients, Mr. Adams Maka-Nangba, the District Head of Wakama, praised the legislator for the supplies and training they received.

As a result, he pledged that the recipients would use the information and gifts for the good of the state.

220 pumping equipment, 220 backpack sprayers, 220 Indorama fertilizers, and 440 NPK 20-10-10 fertilizers are among the things that were delivered.
