For the second time this year, the Lagos State Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has closed the renowned Ile Epo Market, the state’s second-largest food market after Mile 12.
On Monday, multiple LAWMA trucks were seen operating within the market, which had been sealed off to both vendors and customers.
While the specific violations leading to the closure remain undisclosed, sources indicate that the shutdown was due to severe hygiene issues. “The market is extremely dirty, and with the risk of cholera spread, the state government couldn’t take any chances.
