The Lagos State Government has announced plans to flood the market with Eko Rice within the next two weeks, aiming to provide residents with quality rice at affordable prices.
The Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Systems, Abisola Olusanya, made this known during the 2024 Lagos Food Festival themed “A Taste of Culture.” She revealed that the production capacity of the Lagos Rice Mill is being ramped up, supported by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s directive to acquire additional rice paddy for increased output.

Olusanya highlighted the state’s commitment to lowering food costs by boosting production across various sectors. The Food Festival, an annual celebration of Africa’s rich culinary heritage, showcased diverse cuisines, cooking masterclasses, competitions, and exhibitions.
This year, the event featured a cooking competition among students from the University of Lagos, Lagos State University, and Lagos State University of Science and Technology, spotlighting the next generation of culinary talent.
